Privacy
GainesvilleEvents.com is a community calendar. There are no accounts, no logins, and no forms that store what you type. The site is a set of static files — there's no server-side database quietly recording your visit.
What's collected
One thing: anonymous, aggregate usage statistics through Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-2GWVMWYWPY). It tells us roughly how many people visit and which pages get read, so we know the calendar is worth maintaining. When it runs, Google may:
- set cookies in your browser to recognize a return visit;
- record which pages you viewed, your approximate (city-level) location, and your device and browser type;
- use your IP address to estimate that location and then discard it — GainesvilleEvents.com never sees or stores your IP.
That data goes to Google under their privacy policy. We use it only in aggregate.
Your choices
You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser opt-out add-on, by blocking or clearing cookies in your browser, or by using a browser that sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal. Because the site works entirely without analytics, blocking it costs you nothing.
Other sites
Every event links out to the original source (a venue, the library, a ticketing site, and so on). Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we don't control.
