Discover a story of family heritage and identity during the Gainesville Latino Film Festival Children’s Festival at the Matheson Museum. “My Grandfather Is a Nihonjin” follows 10-year-old Noboru as he turns to his grandfather Hideo to learn more about his family’s past. Their conversations reveal Hideo’s experiences as a Japanese immigrant in Brazil and help Noboru better understand his Japanese-Brazilian heritage. Presented with English subtitles, the Children’s Festival also features storytelling and crafts for young attendees.
