Indigenous People’s Day Proclamation and Storytelling

Recognize Indigenous People’s Day with a City of Gainesville proclamation followed by an evening of Indigenous storytelling. The official city recognition begins with a proclamation reading before the program continues at the Matheson History Museum. Elder Duane Whitehorse (Kiowa) and Maria (Taino/Kiowa) lead the evening’s storytelling and a question-and-answer session, offering an opportunity to learn through personal stories, cultural perspectives and conversation.
