Science Surprises: Archaeology

Take a journey through past to the present! Uncover how Florida’s native people thrived using their natural surroundings, learn about ancient tools, traditions, and the stories they tell about life long ago. Learn how to create your own pottery and take it home with you! This Science Surprises session is 45-minute long and perfect for elementary-aged learners. This session does not require pre-registration but does have limited capacity. Hands on Pottery We begin each session with an interactive demonstration of a scientific concept, followed by hands-on activities. Bring the past to life by creating pottery with Model Magic, echoing the techniques once used by Florida’s native communities, and take your finished piece home. This program is supported by the Children’s Trust of Alachua County.
